What is Photovoltaic Glass?

Photovoltaic glass, also known as "photovoltaic glass". A special glass that compresses solar photovoltaic modules, generates electricity using solar radiation, and has relevant current extraction devices and cables. Composed of glass, solar cells, film, back glass, special metal wires, etc., it is the most innovative high-tech glass product for construction.

The main raw materials for photovoltaic glass include quartz sand, soda ash, limestone, dolomite, sodium nitrate, saltpeter, sodium pyroantimonate, aluminum hydroxide, etc. Quartz sand mainly plays the role of forming a network, and its dosage usually accounts for more than half of the glass component. Soda ash mainly provides sodium oxide, mainly reducing the melting temperature of glass; The main function of limestone is to adjust the viscosity of glass to the appropriate value, so that the glass forming time meets the forming requirements. The role of saltpeter is mainly as a clarifying agent, used to remove bubbles from the glass and provide the transparency of the glass.

The preparation process of photovoltaic glass usually adopts the rolling method, and the production process can be divided into two stages: raw sheet production and deep processing; The production of raw materials mainly includes batching, melting, rolling, annealing, and cutting; During the rolling process, molten glass at around 1100 ℃ is rolled and cooled at a certain speed by the rolling mill rollers to achieve a glass plate with a certain thickness, plate width, pattern, and transmittance of 91.5%. Then, it is annealed in an annealing kiln to give the glass plate a relatively stable stress curve distribution, achieving a glass plate with certain strength, not easy to break, and conducive to cutting and processing. It should be pointed out that there are differences between the production lines of photovoltaic embossed glass and float glass. If the demand for photovoltaic glass exceeds supply, it is impossible to switch directly from the float glass production line.

The deep processing process usually involves coating and tempering the original glass. Coating is used to improve the transmittance of photovoltaic glass, while tempering is used to increase the mechanical properties of the glass. The tempered glass has a bending strength 3-5 times that of ordinary glass and an impact strength 5-10 times that of ordinary glass, which not only enhances strength but also improves safety.
