Do you know the four common types of glass used in doors and windows-1
Glass is an indispensable material component in modern architecture. Glass is used in different parts of buildings. Especially on the exterior windows, the transparent lighting and thermal insulation of glass make it the most important building enclosure component. Glass with different functions is also needed in different occasions. Today, let's briefly summarize these glasses with everyone!
Tempered glass is made by heating float glass near its softening point in a tempering furnace, then rapidly and uniformly cooling it to form uniform compressive stress on its surface, thereby improving its mechanical strength, effectively improving its wind pressure and impact resistance, and enhancing its thermal shock resistance.
Tempered glass is widely used in places that require high mechanical strength and safety. Such as glass doors and windows, building curtain walls, glass furniture, indoor partitions, elevators, furniture, etc.
Performance and characteristics of tempered glass:
① Safety: When broken, it splits into small obtuse angled particles resembling honeycomb shapes, which hardly cause significant harm to the human body. Ordinary glass breaks into sharp large pieces, which can easily cause serious harm to the human body.
② High strength: 4-5 times stronger than ordinary glass of the same thickness.
③ Stable heat resistance: It has good thermal stability and can withstand temperatures about three times that of ordinary glass of the same thickness, and can withstand temperature changes of 200 ℃. Therefore, it can have a short-term fire prevention effect in the event of a fire.
④ Large disturbance: 3-4 times larger than ordinary glass of the same thickness. When tempered glass is subjected to a load, its maximum tensile stress is not located on the surface of the glass like ordinary glass, but at the center of the tempered glass plate.
Laminated glass is a composite glass made by sandwiching a tough polyvinyl butyral film (PVB) between two or more glass sheets and subjecting them to high temperature and pressure. Due to the excellent toughness of PVB film, when laminated glass is violently impacted and broken by external forces, the film layer will absorb a large amount of impact energy and rapidly decay. As laminated glass is difficult to penetrate, even if it breaks, the glass fragments basically adhere to the film, keeping the fragments on the entire laminated glass from falling off. Therefore, it becomes a true safety glass.
Laminated glass made of transparent PVB film has a similar appearance and installation method to ordinary glass, and is durable and long-lasting. Widely used in building skylights, canopies, high-end curtain wall doors and windows, shop windows, furniture, elevators, etc.
Performance and characteristics of laminated glass:
① Safety: Laminated glass installed on buildings can withstand any external impact, even if the glass breaks, it can remain intact within its original frame and have a certain degree of wind and rain protection.
② The noise reducing PVB film has a blocking effect on sound waves, thereby reducing noise and minimizing noise interference in work or home.
③ UV protection: It has a great blocking effect on UV rays in sunlight (up to 99% or more), avoiding UV radiation. Therefore, it can protect valuable indoor homes or artworks from fading due to the influence of ultraviolet rays.
④ Bulletproof and Explosion proof: Multiple levels of bulletproof and explosion-proof glass can be manufactured using multi-layer laminated glass.
⑤ Security: Due to the inability to effectively cut the installed laminated glass with a glass knife, and the long time and loud noise of using other tools to penetrate the laminated glass, it is difficult and easy to be detected to enter the room by cutting or breaking the laminated glass. It has a strong resistance to malicious damage, theft, and violence.
⑥ Hurricane and earthquake prevention: Due to the high toughness and strong adhesion of laminated glass, even if it breaks, the fragments will still remain in place, making it more suitable for use in hurricane and earthquake zones.
