What are the commonly used building glass?

1. Tempered glass
Tempered glass is made by heating float glass near its softening point in a tempering furnace, then rapidly and uniformly cooling it to form uniform compressive stress on its surface, thereby improving its mechanical strength, effectively improving its wind pressure and impact resistance, and enhancing its thermal shock resistance. Tempered glass is widely used in places that require high mechanical strength and safety. Such as glass doors and windows, building curtain walls, glass furniture, indoor partitions, elevators, furniture, etc.

2. Laminated glass
Laminated glass is a composite glass made by sandwiching a tough polyvinyl butyral film (PVB) between two or more glass sheets and subjecting them to high temperature and pressure. Due to the excellent toughness of PVB film, when laminated glass is violently impacted and broken by external forces, the film layer will absorb a large amount of impact energy and rapidly decay. As laminated glass is difficult to penetrate, even if it breaks, the glass fragments basically adhere to the film, keeping the fragments on the entire laminated glass from falling off. Therefore, it becomes a true safety glass. Laminated glass made of transparent PVB film has a similar appearance and installation method to ordinary glass, and is durable and long-lasting. Widely used in building skylights, canopies, high-end curtain wall doors and windows, shop windows, furniture, elevators, etc.

3. Hollow glass
Hollow glass is a glass product made of two or more pieces of glass with an aluminum frame filled with molecular sieve adsorbent, separated by a certain width, sealed with butyl rubber, and then sealed with silicone or structural adhesive. It has good sound insulation, heat insulation, thermal insulation, anti condensation and other effects. Hollow glass is widely used in various types of building curtain walls, doors and windows, indoor partitions, or freezers.

4. Low radiation coated glass
Low radiation coated glass, also known as LOW-E glass, is a film system product composed of multiple layers of metal compounds coated on the surface of float glass using magnetron sputtering equipment. It can reflect the heat emitted by heating, household appliances, and human body back into the room in winter, and reduce the glass's own conduction, thereby greatly reducing heat loss. In summer, it can reduce outdoor heat radiation into the room, playing a good insulation role. Therefore, its film layer can block the heat transfer formed by indoor infrared radiation, has high reflectivity for mid to far infrared radiation, and has excellent thermal insulation performance. In addition, its multiple color options meet the strong decorative requirements of buildings.

5. Fireproof glass
Special treatment is applied to ordinary glass through physical and chemical methods to improve its resistance to thermal shock. It can ensure that the glass does not break under flame impact and high temperature conditions within 45-90 minutes, achieving the goal of preventing flames from passing through the glass and spreading fires, allowing people enough time to evacuate the scene, extinguish fires, and provide disaster relief.
